Everybody's Doing It
It seems like almost everyone I know these days is procreating. So that translates into a number of baby gifts. I haven't always hand-made my baby gifts, but lately I've found them to be satisfying little projects. And lest you think I suddenly had a spurt of crafting energy in the last day, let me tell you that these were made weeks ago. I was just waiting for all the recipients (or at least, their parents) to receive the gifts before I spilled the beans.
I made the bib for the baby boy of our designer friends Jeff and Shay. What to make for two designers? I ended up using the fabric scraps that were wrapped around the napkins at their wedding. Those made up the middle stripes of the bib. This was the first time I'd ever used bias tape, so the craftsmanship around the edges leaves a little to be desired. Let's just say I'm glad I used black thread on the black bias tape. We also sent along a box of the Eames House of Cards for when the babe is a little older.
I made another Wee Wonderfuls bunny for our friends Stacey and Chen. This bunny is the twin of the bunny I made for my friend Jen's little Lily. Stacey is a softie designer herself, so I'm glad she liked it. We also sent along a pack of Sandra Boynton books. I never understood the appeal of Sandra Boynton until I had Elise. My taste in children's books always ran more toward the J. Otto Seibold end of the spectrum. But, for young children, Boynton sure is fun to read. Elise loves them. She was just reading "Blue Hat, Green Hat" to herself this morning. "Shoe! Shoe! Shoe! Shoe! Shoe! Shoe! Oopsie."
Anyway, Elise and I are still in the sick house around here. She actually fell asleep on me yesterday afternoon, and that never happens anymore -- kind of nice. I've been feeling pretty crappy. I even have a fever, and I never get fevers. I hope Chris doesn't get this as bad as we have, but with the amount of sleep he's been getting lately (read none), I'm afraid there isn't much hope for him.

Feel better!

Hope you all start feeling better soon. It seems it's been a bad winter for a lot of people for being sick. Most people I know that have gotten sick and have pretty much stayed sick for most of the winter.
Love the bibs. I think that is so neat that you used the napkins from their wedding. That makes them extra special.

Cute bib you made. Color is so cool to the eyes and most probably to the baby. Perfect for baby shower gifts.
